Have you ever taken a sick day when you weren’t really sick, just sick of work?
In case my employer reads this, I can say I have NEVER done this.

Most people think of a sick day to be used when you have a cold or the flu or a broken leg, but we don’t take into consideration what’s going on in our head. Mentally, not physically.
In North America, we work way too many hours per week. It makes up for some, a third if not half of our hourly existence. It’s too much!
For those employees out there who are strict on “misused” sick leave, consider this. Would you rather your employees take a sick day from time to time, for WHATEVER reason, and come back the next day fresh and ready to go? OR not take a sick day and actually get sick (mentally or physically) and need several sick days, or worse, come to work and not really work?
Unless you have an employee who is suspiciously sick every Friday or Monday, don’t worry about it. You will have more rested, harder working employees.
For those of you taking sick leave and feeling guilty about it because you are not as sick as you think you should be, STOP FEELING GUILTY! Some part of you needs a break, so take it, guilt-free. You will be healthier and happier for it.
